As a child, James dreamed of being the most successful CEO in the world. His perspective changed during a semester abroad as part of World Campus Afloat through Chapman College. After spending time with tribespeople who had next to nothing, including no education or electricity, but were very happy, he realized having much money has little to do with happiness and success.


Following college, James worked as a turnaround expert and troubleshooter in retail and distribution for 12 years. For the next eight years, he owned a furniture manufacturing company that he built from scratch into a globally recognized brand.  Manufacturing custom furniture sold through design centers for large homes and hotel lobbies.  James Mexican partner stole his company from him at gunpoint.  Reflecting on what happened, driving back across the border he realized he could have prevented this if he had access to quick answers to mission-critical issues.


That's when he developed the proprietary process he calls "MIND DUMP."  J.I.T.S. - Just in time strategies to cope with rapid change. His focus is to do everything he can to prevent any business owner from getting into a similar predicament. MIND DUMP allows business owners to get "out of their head" and clearly understand their business issues. Business owners achieve targeted outcomes with dramatic financial results in an accelerated timeline.  Within 3 hours to 4 days problems are eliminated.

 

He gained in-depth knowledge and strategic expertise as an investment advisor for nine years with American Express Financial Advisors / NY Life.  A struggling high-end furniture manufacture firm recruited him to turn the company around as the CEO.  After a successful turnaround, James served as an advisor for national management consulting companies out of Chicago and Dallas.

Reasoning style;  Know which guidance to look at for confirming or dis-confirming evidence. 

Knowledge:  Extensive experience with diverse situations, knowledge of sub-domains, particular contexts, and local effects.

Pattern recognition skill;  rather than engaging in a hypothesis-testing cycle, a master strategist can go directly from the act of recognition to judgement or decision.

Causal reasoning and mental modeling;  Reason ahead of data.  Generate more complete causal explanations, including linkages of all pertinent data.

Affect and Effort; "Lovers" of their domain.  (e.g., "weather lovers" enjoy experiencing weather phenomena directly)  Recognize when overload, or the potential for data overload, is occurring.

Goal Orientation; Rapidly come to a detailed understanding of the problem at hand.  

Pattern recognition; Can detect cues and cue configurations that others miss.

Meta-cognition;  The need for getting "the big picture" (i.e. situation awareness) is not well supported by the technology.  - "You have to hold various elements in your head."
